Accommodation and Facilities
St Mary's Hospital is a new state of the art purpose built facility, providing 51 inpatient beds, for the rehabilitation of patients with an Acquired Brain Injury and currently the rehabilitation of Deaf people with mental disorders. These patients will invariably have a forensic history and/or a history of challenging behaviour. It is envisaged that the Deaf patients will be transferred to a different New Build in September 2008.
St Mary's Hospital has been built to the highest specification and is designed to meet the needs of patients with physical disabilities and/or sensory impairments. The facilities enable a spectrum of the highest possible quality of care to be provided, to meet the care and needs of patients who require medium secure, low secure or open ward environment.
All patients have their own bedroom with en-suite shower, basin and toilet. Each ward has spacious recreational areas, separate television lounge and a quiet lounge, a fully equipped kitchen and laundry facilities. There is a well equipped gym and patients have access to the gym with a qualified gym instructor. Some patient are enabled and encouraged to use Total Fitness Gym facilities in the local Community.
Hospital Flats
There are 5 flats which are available either for individuals for the assessment of independent living skills and may require ongoing supervision, due to identified risks. Or part of the Care Pathway for patients who may need due to continued identified risks to remain in a secure environment long term.
The Hospital has an Occupational Therapy Suite for which comprises of an Arts & Craft room, classroom, library with I.T. resources and fully fitted ADL kitchen. We also have a fully fitted and equipped Multi-Sensory room and fully equipped Gymnasium.
