Deaf Services

St George Health Care provides a care pathway of forensic services for Deaf people with mental health and therapeutic rehabilitation needs. Service development has been based on actively promoting the uniqueness of Deaf culture and provides a Deaf centred approach where all therapeutic services are delivered in British Sign Language (BSL).There is an expectation that all staff will use BSL, to the best of their ability. The employment of Deaf staff is vital to the development of the service, ensuring services remain focused around the developmental and communication needs of Deaf people. The service is built on Therapeutic Community principles recognising the crucial role the community itself plays as an agent of change.
